Different views from the beautiful Deoksugung Palace. This is one of 5 royal palaces in the city. It is set apart from the rest because it is just across the street from Seoul City Hall and it is not as large as the others but very well kept. It has a mixture of modern and ancient architecture. This place was first the property of Wolsandaegun (1454~1488), the older brother of King Seongjong (1469~1494) of the Joseon Dynasty. It later transformed into a palace when Gwanghaegun (1575~1641) become King and named it Gyeongungung in 1611. Later on it once again became known as Deoksugung Palace. Make sure you check out the ceremony here which takes place with the traditional clothing and styles of old.

This is a great place to come and chill out either alone or with your friend. You can sit down on the benches and enjoy the view.

☞ Ceremony Course:
Daehanmun Gate at Deoksugung Palace → Seoul Plaza → Cheonggye Plaza → Gwangtonggyo Bridge → Bosingak Bell ** Bosingak Bell Ringing Ceremony takes place at noon.

- Junghwajeon Hall is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 to 16:00, starting from May 1, 2010.
